# Security contact and disclosure

How to reach Canary about a security matter, and how to recognise genuine contact.

Reach Canary only through official channels. In the wake of major incidents, impersonation attempts increase, and direct messages claiming to be Canary, or claiming to be teams seeking Canary, should be treated as suspect. Verified contact routes are listed on this page and nowhere else.

## Recognising genuine contact

* Canary will not ask you to sign a transaction, share a key, or change your DVN configuration through a direct message.
* Integration and configuration guidance is published in these docs and in the LayerZero documentation. Verify any instruction you receive against them.
* When in doubt, reach Canary through the official website at [canaryprotocol.com](https://www.canaryprotocol.com), or through LayerZero's official channels.
